UFC Fight Night 13: Preliminary Details Announced

 |

The UFC is putting on a PPV caliber card on April 2nd, 2008 when the UFC invades the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
So far, there have been three main fights announced that the UFC will be using to promote the card. More bouts will be announced as we move closer to the event.
Kenny Florian vs Joe Lauzon - this is the main event of the card. 7-3-0 Kenny Florian will be taking on the 16-3-0 record of Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon. Kenny Florian first made a name for himself on The Ultimate Fighter, losing to Diego Sanchez in the finale. After this heart-breaking loss, Florian came storming back to lose only one of his next seven fights. His only loss during that streak was to the controversial Sean Sherk at UFC 64 - Unstoppable. Florian is 5'10, 155 pounds.
Lauzon, as mentioned, is 16-3-0 with 13 of his victories coming via submission. Lauzon is currently on a six fight winning streak, and has recently beaten the likes of Jens Pulver, Jason Reinhardt and Brandon Melendez in The Ultimate Fighter 5 finale. Lauzon will be an extremely tough test for Florian, and this should be an excellent main event.
Stephan Bonnar vs Matt Hamill - The 11-4-0 Stephan Bonnar will do battle against the 3-1-0 Matt Hamill. Hamill rose to prominence in The Ultimate Fighter 3, where we ended up beating Jesse Forbes in the finale. Since then, he has won two of his three fights, with his lone loss coming to Michael Bisping via split decision at UFC 75 - Champion vs Champion. Hamill is 6-2, 205 pounds.
Bonnar has fought some tough opponents over his career, including the likes of Forrest Griffin, Keith Jardine and Rashad Evans. His last two fights against Eric Schafer and Mike Nickels were both fairly quick victories. Over his career, Bonnar has lost to Forrest Griffin twice, Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans. Bonnar doesn't shy away from anyone and will give Matt Hamill all that he can handle.
Karo Parisyan vs Thiago Alves - Karo "The Heat" Parisyan will take his 18-4-0 record into battle with the 13-3-0 Thiago "Pitbull" Alves. Eight of the Alves' thirteen victories have come via knockout. Alves is currently on a four fight winning streak, most recently defeating Chris Lytle at UFC 78 - Validation. Alves made his UFC debut in late 2005, and has amassed a record of 6-1 since then.
Parisyan, as mentioned, has a record of 18-4-0, with nine of his victories coming via submission and nine of his victories coming via decisions. Parisyan has won 8 of his last 9 bouts and is currently on a three fight winning streak, defeating Ryo Chonan, Josh Burkman and Drew Fickett during that streak. Parisyan has also defeated Chris Lytle and Matt Serra, while losing to Georges St. Pierre and Sean Sherk twice. Nothing to hang your head in shame over. This is another PPV caliber fight, and the UFC is really giving its fans a treat on April 2nd.
