WEC 33 Card Starting to Take Focus
 |

The WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) promotion is growing with each passing event. The promotion is generating interest by promoting extremely high qualities event each and every time around, and the upcoming WEC 33 in Las Vegas will be no different.
The event will take place on March 26th in Las Vegas (likely at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino) and will be shown live on the VERSUS network.
The card will feature a number of great bouts, including:
Paulo Filho vs Chael Sonnen for the WEC middleweight championship
Paulo "Ely" Filho is one of the best fighters that you may have never heard of. If you haven't seen him fight, you should - he is great. He is currently undefeated in professional MMA fighting with a sterling record of 16-0-0. He fights using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has won seven of his fights via submission.
Chael Sonnen has a very strong lifetime professional fighting record as well with a total of 19 wins, 9 losses and 1 draw. Seven of his victories have come via knockout and nine have come via submission. Sonnen comes from a wrestling background and depends more on power than Filho does, so it should be an interesting matchup of different styles.
This will be a rematch of their fight at WEC 31 - Faber vs Curran, when Filho lost in the second round via armbar submission. This should be a great fight, as both fighters have a rich amount of experience, with Filho having fought extensively in PRIDE and Sonnen having fought in the UFC and Bodogfight, amongst others. This should be an unbelievable fight.
Doug Marshall vs Brian Stann for the WEC light heavyweight championship
This will be another strong match-up for WEC 33. Doug "Rhino" Marshall currently has a lifetime record of 7-2-0, with four of his victories coming via knockout. He has fought every single one of his professional fights in the WEC and is a nearly five year veteran of the promotion. Marshall is a big bear of a man. Don't expect this fight to last very long - only one of Marshall's fights have ever gone past the first round, with that fight lasting 45 seconds into the second round. Marshall's most recent victory was an armbar submission victory against Ariel Gandulla at WEC 31 - Faber vs Curran in December.
His opponent will be Brian Stann, another extremely hard-hitting fighter with a lifetime record of 5-0-0, with all five of his victories coming via knockout. None of Stann's five fights have ever lasted past the first round, so something will have to give when these two bruisers lock up in March. Stann's last fight was a knockout victory against Jeremiah Billington at WEC 30.
These are the first two bouts that have been announced for WEC 33. When betting odds and more fights are announced for this card, we will let you know. Keep it locked on this site for more updates as they become available.
