Elite-XC / Strikeforce Betting Odds: "Shamrock vs Cung Le"

elite xc and strikeforce - fight - shamrock vs cung le Cung Le will be squaring off against Frank Shamrock in the main event of the joint EliteXC / Strikeforce event that is taking place in San Jose, California on March 29th. Here is a brief synopsis of the five matches that are available for betting, plus their current betting odds:

Cung Le (+175) vs Frank Shamrock (-215)

Cung Le is currently undefeated in his professional MMA career with a record of 5-0-0. All five of Le's victories have come via knockout. Cung Le is a great striker and has the ability to floor an opponent with just one punch. Shamrock is an old-school fighter who sports a professional record of 24-8-1, with 13 of his victories coming via submission. Shamrock has notched victories over some impressive opponents including the likes of Tito Ortiz, Jeremy Horn and Cesar Gracie. The Strikeforce world middleweight title will be on the line in this fight.

Gabe Lemley (+450) vs Gilbert Melendez (-600)

Lemley will have his hands full in this one. Lemley currently sports a record of 11-6-0, with six of his victories coming via submission. Lemley's most impressive fight was a victory over Clay Guida at XFO 2 - New Blood, when he submitted Guida via armbar. Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez has a near-perfect record of 13-1-0, with seven of his victories coming via knockout. Melendez is fresh off a loss to Mitsuhiro Ishida at Yarennoka - New Year's Eve 2007, and he will be looking to avenge the loss of his perfect record. Melendez is a huge favorite in this fight.

Drew Fickett (+345) vs Jake Shields (-445)

Jake Shields is another big favorite to win on this card as he will be battling the over-matched Drew Fickett. Shields has an impressive 20-4-1 record with ten of his victories coming via decision. Shields is currently riding an impressive nine fight winning streak, with his last four fights all ending in the first round. Fickett sports an impressive 32-5-0 record and has fought some extremely talented opponents during his career, including the likes of Josh Neer, Kenny Florian and Karo Parisyan. I think that Fickett might be a good value at +345. Fickett has defeated Koscheck, Neer, Kenny Florian and Kurt Pellegrino during his career.

Evangelista Santos (+190) vs Joey Villasenor (-240)

Joey Villasenor brings his 24-6-0 record into this bout with Evangelista Santos. Ten of Villasenor's victories have come via knockout, and ten have come via submission. Villasenor has split his last six fights, going 3-3 in the process. Santos has a subpar record of 16-11-0 and has lost two of his last three fights.

Jae Suk Lim (+340) vs Nick Diaz (-440)

Nick Diaz is a -440 favorite in this fight and currently sports a MMA record of 15-7-0. Diaz may not have a sterling record but he has fought some tough competition including the likes of Diego Sanchez, Sean Sherk and Josh Neer. Jae Suk "The Korean Icepick" Lim has a record of 9-3-0 and will certainly be facing the biggest fight of his career when he takes on Nick Diaz.
