UFC 85 Betting Odds: "Liddell vs Evans"

photo of ufc fighter chuck liddell - profile black and white Bodoglife has posted odds for the two big match-ups on the UFC 85: "Liddell vs Evans" card which is going to take place on June 7th, 2008 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Here is the breakdown for the two matches, plus the betting odds:

Chuck Liddell (-265) vs Rashad Evans (+205)

It wasn't too long ago when everyone seemingly wanted to write Chuck Liddell off. After two disappointing performances against Keith Jardine (split decision loss at UFC 76) and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (first round knockout at UFC 71), people were wondering if Liddell's best days were behind him. He openly admitted that his head hadn't been in the right place before those two matches, and vowed to return to the top. He came back with a vengeance against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79 - Nemesis, battling Silva en route to a unanimous decision victory. Liddell was back.

Liddell is the UFC's biggest star. He currently sports a record of 21-5-0, with 13 of his victories coming via knockout. He is known for his incredible striking ability and has the power to lay anyone flat at any time. He can be behind in a fight at one moment, and standing over his opponent, victorious, the next.

Rashad Evans currently has a record of 11-0-1, with three of his victories coming via knockout and six coming via decision. His biggest fight so far was a draw against Tito Ortiz at UFC 73 - Stacked. He most recently defeated Michael Bisping at UFC 78 - Validation via split decision.

Rashad Evans currently doesn't have any losses during his MMA career, however this will be by far the biggest match of his career. Look for a resurgent Liddell to take it to Evans early, looking to capitalize on Evans' relative inexperience and possible jitters.

Fabricio Werdum (-110) vs Brandon Vera (-120)

This fight is almost impossible to call. Vegas seems to be having the same indecision as they basically have the fight as a toss-up so far.

Fabricio "Vai Cavalo" Werdum is currently 10-3-1 with five of his victories coming via knockout and three coming via submission. His most recent fight was an impressive second round knockout against Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 80 - Rapid Fire. This will be Werdum's third fight in the UFC.

Brandon "The Truth" Vera currently sports a record of 8-1-0, with six of his victories coming via knockouts. As of right now, Werdum has a sizable twenty pound weight advantage over Vera - I would expect Vera to add some size leading up to this fight.

Vera's one loss came against Tim Sylvia at UFC 77 - Hostile Territory where he lost by unanimous decision. Before that he had racked up victories against Frank Mir, Assuerio Silva and Justin Eilers.
