Josh Koscheck Re-Signs with the UFC

 |

Josh Koscheck surprised no one on Thursday when he announced that he had re-signed with the UFC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Josh "Kos" Koscheck had been a free agent since his win over Dustin Hazelett at UFC 82: Pride of a Champion. No one really expected Koscheck to do anything else but re-sign with the UFC, as that is where he has spent most of his career.
Koscheck made his UFC debut in the first season of the Ultimate Fighter Finale. He defeated Christopher Sanford in his first ever professional bout via knockout in the first round.
Koscheck currently sports a professional MMA record of 10-2-0. All but two of his matches have taken place in the UFC. He beat Luke Cummon at Ring of Combat 6 on April 24th, 2004 and Cruz Cachon at King of the Rockies on January 3rd, 2004 before making his jump to the UFC. Since then, Koscheck has only lost twice, once to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 74 via unanimous decision and once to Drew Fickett at UFC: Ultimate Fight Night 2 via Rear Naked Choke.
"Kos" pointed to several reasons as to why he chose to re-sign with the UFC. They have the best fighters and the best promotion. They are the best organization in the world. And he also said that the UFC had invested heavily in him, so he felt that he would return the favor and show some loyalty back.
Now Koscheck can turn his attention towards his bout with Chris Lytle at UFC 86. Chris "Lights Out" Lytle currently sports a record of 25-15-5 with 17 of those victories coming via submission. Lytle is a tough and experienced fighter and should prove to be a great challenge for Koscheck.
Koscheck is widely thought to be one of the top welterweight fighters in the world, and I am sure that his new contract reflects that.
