Emelianenko Brothers Set to Fight on "Affliction: Banned" Show

 |

It will be a family affair on July 19th, as both Fedor and Aleksander Emelianenko will be fighting on the card of "Affliction: Banned".
As mentioned on this site last week, Fedor will be fighting in the main event against Tim Sylvia.
Fedor's younger brother Aleksander has also been added to the card, as he will be taking on Paul Buentello.
Aleksander Emelianenko has a professional lifetime record of 13-3-0, with seven of his victories coming via knockout. He has fought in a wide variety of different promotions, including PRIDE, Bodogfight and M-1. He has won his last four fights in a row, including victories over Silvao Santos, Dan Bobish, Jessie Gibson and Eric Pele. His last loss came on November 12th, 2006, when he lost via submission to Fabricio Werdum.
Paul "The Headhunter" Buentello has a lifetime professional record of 25-10-0, with sixteen of his victories coming via knockout. He is 6'2, 245 pounds, and fights out of the American Kickboxing Academy. His last fight was a second round loss against Alistair Overeem in November of 2007. Prior to that, Buentello had notched four straight victories against Carter Williams, Ruben Villareal, David Abbott and Gilbert Aldana.
Buentello has fought some very respectable competition over his career, including fights against Andrei Arlovski, Ricco Rodriguez and Kevin Jordan.
This is a fight that likely won't go the distance, as both fighters rely heavily on their knockout ability. This is an interesting and welcome addition to the card.
