Kimbo Slice vs Brett Rogers "Likely" To Happen in October

For those wondering who Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson would fight next, the answer appears to be: Brett Rogers.

You may remember Brett "The Grim" Rogers from the EliteXC "Saturday Night Fights" card that was broadcast on CBS last weekend. Rogers crushed Jon Murphy early in the first round of their fight, and was then pronounced as a possible future opponent for "Kimbo Slice".

Rogers then thrust himself directly into the spotlight by calling out "Kimbo Slice" in a post-fight press conference. He described Ferguson's third round knockout of James Thompson as "garbage", and made several other disparaging remarks about "Kimbo". Rogers was clearly looking to goad "Kimbo" into a fight, and it seems to have worked. In a recent radio interview, "Kimbo" said that "they called me out and got the fight".

Gary Shaw, EliteXC Live Event President, said that he isn't sure if this fight will be shown on PPV or a future CBS telecast.

The big question is: do people actually care about this fight?

Brett Rogers possesses a 7-0 record, but he hasn't fought anybody of any substance as of yet. Sure he has a big mouth, but is that going to get people excited about a possible match-up with "Kimbo Slice"?

"Kimbo Slice" now sports a professional record of 3-0, but his reputation has been tarnished after his underwhelming performance against James Thompson, and his air of invincibility is now gone. There was an incredible amount of hype leading up to his fight against James Thompson, but I don't think that there will be anything close to that again. The main appeal of "Kimbo" was that he was made out to be this invincible wrecking ball that couldn't be stopped - his fight against Thompson showed that clearly, he could be stopped.

Would you pay money to watch an EliteXC PPV that was headlined by "Kimbo Slice" vs Brett Rogers? Would you stay home on a Saturday night to watch them fight, if it were aired for free on CBS?

Brett Rogers is certainly a winnable fight for "Kimbo Slice" - I'm just not sure if anyone will care.
