Anderson "The Spider" Silva's Four Losses

If you are like me, then you probably watch Anderson "The Spider" Silva these days and think - this guy has actually lost four times in his career? He is seemingly invincible - he has won his last eight fights in a row. He has beaten names such as Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson and Nathan Marquardt with relative ease. He (temporarily at least) moved up to light heavyweight to take on James Irvin, and won the match with one punch.

Silva seems unbeatable. During his time in the UFC, none of his seven matches have gone past the second round. He won one fight by submission (rear naked choke against Dan Henderson at UFC 82 - Pride of a Champion) and the rest came via knockout. Silva is a machine in the ring - confident, skilled and seemingly unbeatable.

We thought that we would go through and compile video clips of Silva's four losses, in reverse chronological order.

Silva currently has a professional record of 22-4-0. Two of his four losses have come via submission, one came via decision, and the other loss was the result of a disqualification.

Anderson Silva's most recent loss came at Rumble on the Rock 8 on January 20th, 2006. This fight was against Yushin Okami (who was supposed to fight Silva at UFC 90, but had to pull out due to a broken hand). This fight was stopped at 2:33 of the first round, due to an illegal kick from Silva:

Next up: Anderson Silva vs Ryo Chonan on December 31st, 2004 at PRIDE - Shockwave 2004. This was a submission loss for Silva that came at 3:08 of the third round. One of the most impressive submissions that I have ever seen:

Next up: Silva vs Daiju Takase at PRIDE 26 - Bad to the Bone on June 8th, 2003. This submission (a triangle choke) came at 8:33 of the first round. An impressive submission by Takase:

Last up - Silva's first ever professional MMA fight, which took place on May 27th, 2000 at Meca 1 - Meca World Vale Tudo 1. The fight was a two round decision loss to Luiz Azeredo.

The fight isn't available on Youtube (from what I saw), but you can view the full fight below at MMA Core:

There you have it - Silva's four losses.
