Six of the Fastest UFC Knockouts Ever
 |

If you were watching UFC 87: "Seek and Destroy" on Saturday night, then you witnessed one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history. Manvel "Pitbull" Gamburyan lasted just twelve seconds against Robert Emerson, getting pasted with a right hand that sent him reeling, and then getting knocked out with a left hook.
This was ONE of the fastest knockouts in UFC history, but it didn't break the record. Here are six of the fastest fights in UFC history (including the Gamburyan fight from Saturday night):
6. Jens Pulver vs John Lewis (UFC 28 - High Stakes, 15 seconds)
You can see the fight here (Metacafe)
"L'il Evil" crushes Lewis with a left hand and the referee quickly stops the fight. As you can see, the ref made the right call as Lewis was struggling to stand up. This was the last professional MMA fight for Lewis - he retired soon after.
5. Gary Goodridge vs Paul Herrerra (UFC 8 - David vs Goliath, 13 seconds)
You can see the fight here (Metacafe)
Truly one of the more impressive (and cringeworthy) knockouts that I have ever seen. I'm surprised that Herrerra's head didn't explode from all of those elbows to the temple.
4. Robert Emerson vs Manvel Gamburyan (UFC 87 - Seek and Destroy, 12 seconds)
Gamburyan was caught with a right that sent him reeling, and then was finished off with a left hook that knocked him out. The fight could have been over even quicker if their legs hadn't gotten tangled up.
3. B.J. Penn vs Caol Uno (UFC 34 - High Voltage, 11 seconds)
You can view the fight here (Google Video)
Uno sprints out to attempt some kind of a flying kick. Penn avoids Uno, and then dishes out a ferocious beatdown. One thing about Penn - he knows how to finish. After the fight, Penn sprints out of the building, obviously late for an important dinner meeting.
Caol Uno is not some scrub that got destroyed by Penn - he is a good fighter who just had an off night. Penn and Uno had a rematch a few years later, and the two fought to a draw.
2. Duane Ludwig vs Jonathan Goulet (UFC - Ultimate Fight Night 3, 11 seconds)
All I found was this *.gif file:

You can clearly see that this fight was over after four seconds - the ref came in and waved Ludwig off. For some reason though, the fight was recorded as lasting a full eleven seconds.
1. James Irvin vs Houston Alexander (UFC Fight Night 13, 8 seconds)
You can view the fight here (MMA Root)
Irvin's decisive victory over Houston Alexander earned him a shot at Anderson Silva in the light heavyweight division. The ironic thing is that his match against Silva lasted just a bit longer, as Silva destroyed the outmatched Irvin.
Bonus:
Here is the quickest non-UFC match-up that I found:
Not sure exactly what happened here. Lautaro Tucas sprinted across the ring and leapt into the air - Chris Clements caught him with a punch while Tucas was still in the air, and the fight was soon over. I believe that the official length of the bout was three seconds.
