Jackson vs Silva at UFC 91?
 |

An article on MMAJunkie (link below) entitled "Quinton Jackson Preparing for UFC 91 Fight with Wanderlei Silva" claims that Jackson has agreed to a November 15th bout against Wanderlei Silva, and has begun training for the match-up in the United Kingdom.
The UFC has not yet officially confirmed the match-up that would be the co-main event of UFC 91, along with Brock Lesnar vs Randy Couture for the UFC title.
This fight, if it happens, would confirm recent statements from Dana White that Jackson would "definitely fight before the year is over."
This would be Jackson's first fight after dropping the light heavyweight title to Forrest Griffin at UFC 86. It would also mark his first return to the ring since his wild police chase that took place earlier in the summer.
Wanderlei Silva and Jackson have fought twice before, with Silva scoring victories in both fights. Silva first knocked out Jackson at Pride - Final Conflict 2003 in November of 2003, and then knocked out Jackson again roughly a year later at Pride 28 - High Octane.
Silva is coming off of an uplighting, career-affirming victory against Keith Jardine at UFC 84 - Ill Will. A victory against Jackson would likely earn Silva a shot at the light heavyweight title, sometime in early 2009.
Jackson will be looking to re-establish himself as a contender to the light heavyweight title after a weird and wacky summer. Assuming that Forrest Griffin beats Rashad Evans later in the year, a Jackson victory over Silva at UFC 91 would likely earn Jackson a rematch with Forrest Griffin.
Both fighters will have plenty to prove, which is what will make this such an electrifying match-up. UFC 91 is shaping up to be one of the best cards in recent history.
