Stephan Bonnar vs Jon Jones at UFC 94

Five Ounces of Pain (link below) broke the news earlier today that Stephan Bonnar had finally healed and would be returning to action at UFC 94 against Jon Jones.

Stephan "The American Psycho" Bonnar has been out of action for a year. His last fight was a TKO victory against Eric Schafer at UFC 77 - Hostile Territory. Bonnar was then supposed to take on Matt Hamill at UFC Fight Night 13, but sustained torn ligaments in his knee that kept him out of action for a year.

Bonnar has a professional record of 11-4-0. He was one of the original cast-members on the first season of the "Ultimate Fighter", ultimately losing to Forrest Griffin in the finale. This fight put the UFC squarely on the map and is regarded as one of the best MMA fights of all time. The two went on to have a rematch at UFC 62 - Liddell vs Sobral, with Bonnar losing by unanimous decision once again. Bonnar has lost four times in his career, but let's look at who he has lost to - Forrest Griffin (twice), Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida.

Bonnar is currently in the midst of a two fight winning streak, having beaten Eric Schafer at UFC 77 and Mike Nickels at UFC 73. A win against the undefeated Jon Jones would help to propel Bonnar further up the light heavyweight ladder.

Jon "Bones" Jones has a career professional record of 6-0. He has fought once in the UFC so far, defeating Andre Gusmao via unanimous decision at UFC 87 - Seek and Destroy. This will be the biggest fight in Jones' short career (by far) and he will be looking to make a name for himself in the promotion in this fight.

Bonnar has all of the tools needed to move up the light heavyweight contender ladder, and I'm glad that he is back and healthy once again. He is still relatively young (31 years old) and has plenty of fights ahead of him.

Bonnar - Jones will take place at UFC 94, which will be headlined by St. Pierre - Penn II.
