Lesnar is Currently a -125 Favorite to Win at UFC 91
 |

UFC 91 is quickly approaching. After months of debate and build-up, Brock Lesnar and Randy Couture will square off for the heavyweight title on Saturday, November 15th.
When this marquee match-up was first announced a number of months ago, Randy Couture was a slight favorite to win at most sportsbooks. Since the initial announcement though, the odds first evened up and then moved into Brock Lesnar's favor.
As of right now, Brock Lesnar is currently a -125 favorite to win against Randy Couture, while Couture is listed as -105 to win.
This means that you would need to wager $125 on Brock Lesnar in order to win $100 of profit back, whereas a successful $105 wager on Randy Couture would yield a total profit of $100.
We decided to drop an email to some of the sportsbooks that we promote, and ask them about the betting action heading into UFC 91.
Universally they have told us that this is one of the most heavily wagered UFC fights of all time. Many people opened accounts specifically for the purposes of betting on Lesnar/Couture.
We were told that more experienced MMA bettors were taking Couture, while the "less-experienced" people were taking Brock Lesnar. When we asked what "less-experienced" meant, we were told that this meant someone who has wagered on less than 10 MMA fights over the lifetime of their account.
We were told that when the line was first released, many people were taking Lesnar to win, and this caused the line to move.
People that I have talked to who have bet on this fight are practically split down the middle.
The pro-Couture faction point to his impressive victory over Tim Sylvia as evidence that Couture can handle a "big" man. They point to his wealth of experience in the ring and his multiple UFC titles. They also point to Lesnar's lack of in-ring experience.
The pro-Lesnar faction points out that by the time the two fighters step in the ring on November 15th, Lesnar will have a near 50 pound advantage. They point out that Brock Lesnar is not Tim Sylvia, and that Lesnar is bigger, faster and stronger. They also point to Lesnar's strong wrestling background and make the argument that Couture has never faced such a strong wrestler in his career. They say that Couture, who is used to controlling his opponent against the cage and sapping the strength and will from his opponent, won't be able to do the same against Lesnar. They also point to the fact that Couture is in his mid 40s and hasn't fought since August of 2007.
The MMA world has been thrown into disarray over the past few months. Anderson "The Spider" Silva scored a less than impressive victory over Patrick Cote; Chuck Liddell was flattened by Rashad Evans; Urijah Faber was knocked out and lost his WEC featherweight title; Paulo Filho dropped his WEC middleweight title (voluntarily) after a much-talked about performance last week. Will Brock Lesnar turn the MMA world on its ear yet again and defeat Randy Couture for the title, or will Couture pull out another amazing victory? We'll soon find out.
