Jon Fitch On Undercard of UFC 94
 |

UFC 94 is shaping up to be one of the all-time great UFC cards.
You have Georges St. Pierre squaring off against B.J. Penn for the Welterweight championship. Both fighters are considered by most to be two of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and this fight will surely end up being a classic.
Next up - the battle of two undefeated fighters as Lyoto Machida squares off against Thiago Silva. This will be a tremendous clash of two fighters will completely different (but successful) styles, and one of these fighters will end up with a blemish on their currently perfect records.
The main card is rounded out by three more matches:
Stephan Bonnar vs Jon Jones
Karo Parisyan vs Dong Hyun Kim
Nate Diaz vs Clay Guida
If you scroll down to the undercard, a very notable name will jump out at you - Jon Fitch.
Jon Fitch, who just had a 15 match winning streak snapped.
Jon Fitch, one of the top Welterweight fighters in the world.
Jon Fitch, who just competed in a five-round epic against Georges St. Pierre, a fight that might end up being the Fight of the Year in 2008.
Jon Fitch is on the undercard?
Many are scratching their heads tonight and wondering - why?
The reason most likely lies in the events that took place in late November.
Fitch was reluctant to sign a lifetime contract that allowed his name and likeness to be used in a UFC video game.
Dana White and the UFC were enraged by Jon's stance and immediately released him from the promotion. Dana White absolutely savaged Fitch, saying that the fighter was ungrateful and would no longer be welcomed in the promotion.
Fitch and the UFC ended up patching things up over the next 24 hours, but it appears as though the damage was already done. I find it hard to believe that the UFC couldn't find Fitch a spot on the main card of UFC 94, especially given the amount of time and energy that they spent building him up prior to UFC 87.
This is clearly punishment for Fitch initially refusing to sign the contract.
It just goes to show - don't cross the boss.
It's too bad, as Fitch has clearly earned a spot on the main card of any UFC event.
