Josh Neer Arrested After High-Speed Chase

Josh "The Dentist" Neer was arrested in Des Moines, Iowa early Thursday morning following a high-speed police chase.

Neer was charged with OWI (Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated), Hit-and-Run, eluding police and multiple other infractions. He was released at around 8 am on Thursday morning, after posting a $7,000 bond.

The Des Moines police contend that Neer rear-ended a car at a traffic light. The rear-ended car then struck a police car that was also stopped at the light.

The police officer jumped out of her car to investigate, at which point Neer apparently fled the scene.

There was a 15-minute high speed chase, which eventually ended when Neer's vehicle hit some spike strips that the police had laid down and blew a tire. Neer was then apprehended.

Neer and his manager, Mickey Dubberly, have a different version of the events.

According to Dubberly, Neer stopped to investigate when he rear-ended the car. He saw that there was no damage and left the scene. He only "panicked" when he noted that there was a police cruiser following him.

Dubberly also contends that police officers used excessive force on Neer, as the fighter sustained bruises to his stomach and head during his arrest.

Apparently Neer initially refused to take a breath test but later relented. He blew a .134, which is much higher than the legal limit of .08.

This arrest could cause the delay or cancellation of Neer's scheduled fight against Mac Danzig at UFC Fight Night 17, which takes place on February 7th.
