St. Pierre, Penn, Griffin All Possible for UFC 100
 |

UFC 100 is just around the corner.
The event, which will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, will take place on July 11th, 2009.
So far there have been no official announcements made for this card.
Dana White was uncharacteristically quiet about this card up until last week, when he revealed that UFC 100 would feature at "least" two title fights and another "big" fight.
In the end, the card will likely end up looking much like UFC 92. Three main event quality fights and a couple of titles on the line.
In an effort to figure out who might be taking part on this card, we need to first eliminate the names that have little to no chance of appearing.
Brock Lesnar? Fighting at UFC 98. Frank Mir. Ditto. They are obviously out for UFC 100.
Anderson Silva. Fighting at UFC 97. Chuck Liddell. Fighting at UFC 97. There is no chance of either of these fighters appearing at UFC 100.
Rashad Evans? He's a possibility, but only if Quinton Jackson loses to Keith Jardine at UFC 96. If Jackson loses, then Machida / Evans is a definite possibility for UFC 100. If Jackson wins, then Jackson / Evans will likely take place in the fall of 2009.
Randy Couture? Not only is he recovering from an injury, but he is also currently filming two movies and is scheduled to be in a third (The Expendables). I believe that the Expendables is slated to start filming this spring, so you can probably count Couture out as well.
Georges St. Pierre? It's very likely that he will defend against Thiago Alves at UFC 100 as part of a co-main event. Barring any injuries, you can pretty much count on this fight taking place at UFC 100.
B.J. Penn? Also a likely addition to this card. The UFC will certainly ask him to defend against Kenny Florian at UFC 100 - whether or not Penn wants to fight is another story.
Who are some of the other names that are possibilities for this card?
How about Forrest Griffin? A fighter who was instrumental in the rise of the UFC will certainly be asked to participate on this card. If Jackson beats Jackson at UFC 96, then Machida / Griffin might be a very real possibility, with the winner getting a shot at the winner of Jackson/Evans.
I would be surprised if you didn't see St. Pierre, Penn and Griffin taking part in the top three fights on this card. We should start hearing about some of the main event match-ups over the next month or so.
