Is the Brock Lesnar Press Conference On or Off?

There are reports floating around that Brock Lesnar will announce on Tuesday that he is dropping his heavyweight belt, and that the champ is currently weighing under 220 pounds due to his battle with diverticulitis.

As per usual, these "reports" have no basis in fact, simply citing "sources" that are apparently "close" to the situation.

Here's what we do know about the Brock Lesnar situation right now:

-the UFC will be holding a press conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday to discuss the future of Brock Lesnar

-Brock Lesnar will be attending

Brock Lesnar, as you are surely aware, has been out of action since mauling Frank Mir at UFC 100. The champ has been stricken by a case of diverticulitis, which is an intestinal disorder that wreaks havoc with some of the internal workings of the body.

Lesnar had surgery a few months back to try and fix the problem, and reportedly (according to Dana White) visited a doctor last week to determine whether or not he was healing properly.

If Lesnar wasn't healing properly, then he would have been forced to undergo "major" surgery which would have kept him out of action for at least a couple of years, and maybe even permanently.

Dana White grew uncharacteristically tight-lipped last week, offering a simple "no comment" when pressed about Lesnar's health. This "no comment" sent the blogosphere into hysterics, as many people assumed that this meant that the champion would be out of action for a very long time.

Let's put the "reports" aside and look at this objectively for a second.

Would the unbelievably private Brock Lesnar actually fly across the country to drop his title at a UFC press conference?

Would Brock Lesnar appear before the press if he was seriously weighing less than 220 pounds? Are you kidding me?

Would the UFC actually have Lesnar drop his title at a press conference? If Lesnar were forced to drop the title, wouldn't the UFC just quietly announce it, rather than forcing their champ to appear in public to make the announcement?

Why would Randy Couture have lied when he said that he recently talked to Brock, and that Brock was getting healthier and was also back in the gym?

I'm sticking to my guns here. Brock Lesnar will announce that he is getting healthier and is back in the gym at Tuesday's press conference. The UFC will say that they are looking to have Brock Lesnar fight the winner of Carwin/Mir sometime in the summer. Lesnar vs Mir/Carwin will possibly take place at the UFC's early July show, but most likely will happen at the Boston show in August.

Just my guess.. I don't have "sources".

Edit: Ok, so now the press conference is apparently "off", which will lead to even more speculation about Lesnar's health. Let's see what happens next week..
