UFC 149 Has Gone From Great to Lacklustre Thanks to InjuriesPublished on June 16th, 2012 10:04 pm EST
The curse of UFC 149 has struck yet again, as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has been forced off of the card.
Nogueira, who was originally slated to square off against Cheick Kongo, was forced to pull out after it was revealed that his broken humerus (suffered against Frank Mir at UFC 140) hadn't healed properly.
Shawn Jordan will be taking Nogueira's place and squaring off against Kongo.
The main card for UFC 149 (which is going to take place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) now looks like this:
Urijah Faber vs Renan Barao
Hector Lombard vs Tim Boetsch
Shawn Jordan vs Cheick Kongo
Siyar Bahadurzada vs Chris Clements
Now, compare that to the original card:
Jose Aldo vs Erik Koch
Mauricio Rua vs Thiago Silva
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Thiago Alves
Michael Bisping vs Tim Boetsch
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs Cheick Kongo
Wow! That's quite the change.
You have to feel bad for the people who shelled out money for UFC 149. They thought that they were getting steak and lobster, but instead they are having to settle for the McDonald's drive-thru.
You can bet that the next time that the UFC rolls through Calgary, there will be a big card with at least one or two very big names.
