Overeem vs Struve One of Most Intriguing Fights on This Weekend's "Big Fox" Card

One of the most intriguing fights on this weekend's "Big Fox" card is a Heavyweight match-up between Alistair Overeem and Stefan Struve.

Both men are known for their striking and both men are rarely involved in a boring fight. Unless something strange happens, the scrap between Overeem and Struve should result in a stoppage victory for one of the two men.

Alistair Overeem, in fact, is supremely confident that he is going to knock his fellow countryman out. So confident, in fact, that Overeem has stated that he will finish Struve within the "first 30 seconds" of their fight.

This is quite a lofty goal for Overeem, especially given the fact that he has been knocked out in three of his last four fights. Overeem, in fact, has not won a fight via knockout since stopping Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 in December of 2011.

Stefan Struve, on the other hand, has not fought since losing to Mark Hunt in March of 2013. Following that fight, Struve was diagnosed with a heart issue that could have possibly resulted in his early retirement. Struve, however, was able to return and was originally scheduled to fight Matt Mitrione. Disaster struck for Struve, however, after he suffered a panic attack before the fight and passed out. The fight was cancelled and there was very real concern that his heart condition had flared up. In the end, Struve was given a clean bill of health and is finally set to make his return against Overeem.

One thing is for sure - Overeem always starts his fights very quickly. In his losses against Antonio Silva and Travis Browne, Overeem had both of his opponents in trouble before succumbing to knockout blows. Will Struve be able to survive an early onslaught from Overeem? Struve is a resilient fighter with a decent jaw but he has been knocked out (multiple times) in the past.

The question with Overeem, of course, is how he will hold up if he isn't able to finish the fight within the first couple of minutes. Overeem is known to fade fast and it will be interesting to see what happens if Struve can survive the initial Overeem onslaught.

This should be a very interesting fight.
