Heavyweight Tilt Between Overeem and Nelson Set For UFC 185: Pettis vs Dos Anjos

A Heavyweight tilt between Alistair "Demolition Man" Overeem and Roy "Big Country" Nelson has been set for UFC 185. This card, which is set to feature Anthony Pettis vs Rafael dos Anjos in the main event, will be taking place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on March 14th, 2015.

The fight between Nelson and Overeem will see two of the most formidable strikers in the UFC's Heavyweight division square off against one another.

Nelson, 38, has lost 3 of his last four fights and desperately needs a win. Nelson, who is known for his tremendous chin, was knocked out in his last fight, a second round KO loss to Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs Nelson.

Alistair Overeem, who was brought into the UFC to much fanfare, has disappointed during his stint with the organization. Overeem has gone 2-3 in his last five fights and is coming off of a win over Stefan Struve at UFC on Fox: Dos Santos vs Miocic. Overeem, like Nelson, really needs a win on March 15th in order to build some positive momentum.

Both Nelson and Overeem are capable of knocking their opponents out - there is no question about that.

The interesting part of this fight, however, is the chins of both fighters. Nelson is notoriously hard to knock out while Overeem has shown in recent fights that his chin may be made out of glass. Can Overeem withstand a big shot from Nelson? Will Nelson try to take the fight to the ground to make use of his criminally underrated grappling skills? Does Overeem need to win this fight in the first few minutes?

This should be a very interesting tilt. My guess is that this fight ends up being the third fight on the main card though it could easily get the co-main event slot as well.
