Overeem Favored To Beat Browne At UFC on Fox Sports 1: Shogun vs Sonnen

The co-main event of UFC on Fox Sports 1: Shogun vs Sonnen will pit Alistair Overeem vs Travis Browne in a Heavyweight battle.

Both fighters are explosive athletes, and both fighters can end a fight in a split second.

For Alistair Overeem, this fight is a particularly important one. Overeem was once touted as a future UFC Heavyweight champion - that was, of course, until he tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone. Oh, and don't forget the fact that he was absolutely smashed by Antonio Silva in the third round of their fight.

Overeem has a big contract, and he really needs to turn in an impressive performance against Travis Browne to continue justifying his high asking price.

Travis Browne is no easy out for Overeem, as the Hawaiian monster has won four of his last five fights, including wins over Gabriel Gonzaga, Stefan Struve and Rob Broughton. An impressive victory over Overeem would vault Browne up the list of Heavyweight contenders.

Alistair Overeem is a small favorite heading into the August 17th fight. Let's take a look at the betting odds:

Alistair Overeem, -185
Travis Browne, +155

So, according to these odds, a $185 wager on Overeem would yield a potential profit of $100, while a successful $100 bet on Travis Browne could return a total profit of $155.

Alistair Overeem paid dearly when he clowned around in his fight against Antonio Silva. You can expect a much more focused and determined Overeem in this upcoming fight, but will it be enough to get by Travis Browne?
