Silva vs Belfort Rematch Reportedly Booked for March

According to multiple unconfirmed reports, Anderson "The Spider" Silva will be returning to the Octagon in March against none other than Vitor Belfort. The fight, if it happens, would be the main event of the UFC 197 card, which will be taking place in Brazil.

There have been rumors of this fight happening for a while. When asked about the possibility of the fight, UFC President Dana White said that it was something that the promotion was "working on".

The two men fought at UFC 126 in February of 2011, with Silva winning via a vicious front kick during the first round. There was plenty of acrimonious build-up prior to the fight, and there is no love lost between the two fighters in this current day.

Anderson Silva was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 183 in January of 2015, when he defeated Nick Diaz via unanimous decision. The result of the fight was eventually changed to a no-contest following positive drug tests from both fighters (Silva for steroids, Diaz for marijuana).

Vitor Belfort, on the other hand, is coming off of a first round demolition of Dan Henderson at UFC Fight Night: Belfort vs Henderson 3, which took place earlier this month.

Both Silva and Belfort are in tricky positions right now, as both are older fighters who are a fair distance away from a title shot.

The winner of this fight will receive some much-needed momentum en route to one last possible title shot, while the loser will likely find themselves contemplating retirement.

This should be an entertaining fight that will certainly compel the Brazilian crowd that will be in attendance. For the main event of a numbered PPV in Brazil, this fight is perfect.
