Can Silva Avoid Mark Hunt's Power Shots?

On Friday evening, Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva will be taking on Mark "The Super Samoan" Hunt in the main event of UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Silva is currently a small favourite to beat Hunt - here are the current betting odds:

Antonio Silva, -140
Mark Hunt, +110

So, according to these odds, a successful $140 wager on Silva would yield a total profit of $100, while a successful $100 bet on Hunt would yield a total profit of $110.

According to the bookmakers, this fight will NOT go the distance, which shouldn't surprise anybody:

Yes (Fight goes the distance), +375
No (Fight does not go the distance), -700

As a matter of fact, the over/under is set at 1 1/2 rounds, and the favourite is the under line:

Over 1 1/2 Rounds, +115
Under 1 1/2 Rounds, -160

This fight is about as straightforward as they come. Mark Hunt will be trying to lure Silva into a stand-up battle, while Silva will almost certainly try and take the fight to the ground. Silva is an excellent grappler, while Hunt's strength is certainly on the feet.

Opponents of Hunt, though, seem to have the tendency to abandon their game plans and try to engage the hard hitter in a stand-up battle. This rarely turns out well for Hunt's opponents, but they keep making the same mistake over and over again.

Will Silva end up being another victim of the "Super Samoan" on Friday night? We'll soon find out.
