Josh Koscheck Looking to Extend His Career With Bellator

Josh Koscheck, who finished his lengthy UFC career on a five fight losing streak, announced earlier this week that he has inked a new deal with Bellator.

Koscheck, who made a name for himself on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, recently announced that he was not quite ready to retire. The UFC elected not to bring Koscheck back into their fold and the former Welterweight title challenger elected to sign with Bellator instead.

25 of Koscheck's 27 career fights took place in the UFC. Koscheck worked his way up to a shot at the Welterweight title, where he eventually lost to Georges St. Pierre.

The fight against Georges St. Pierre significantly altered the trajectory of Koscheck's career, as he suffered a broken orbital bone in that fight that resulted in his eye consistently swelling up in future fights. In addition, Koscheck clearly favored his injured eye and this significantly took away from his aggressiveness.

Will Koscheck be able to get his career back on track, similar to what Tito Ortiz did when he arrived in Bellator?

There are a number of interesting fights available for Koscheck in Bellator - the biggest, you would have to think, is a potential rematch between Koscheck and Paul Daley. The two famously fought in the UFC, with Daley getting bounced from the organization after hitting Koscheck with a cheap shot after the final bell.

The narrative for this fight writes itself and Bellator would likely do a big ratings number if they can put this fight together.
