Bellator To Try To Sign Brock Lesnar in 2015

Current WWE superstar Brock Lesnar is scheduled to become a free agent in March of 2015.

Lesnar's current deal with the WWE, in which he appears sporadically, is due to expire early next year. There are a number of options that will be available to Lesnar, including re-upping with WWE, retiring or returning to the UFC. As a matter of fact, UFC President Dana White has been vocal about the fact that he has remained in close contact with Lesnar and would love to welcome the behemoth back to the fold.

Another party that is interested in Lesnar's services, should he decide to leave the WWE? Bellator.

Bellator President Scott Coker recently revealed that the promotion has made an initial approach to Lesnar and his team in order to indicate their desire to secure his services. While the two sides have not engaged in any actual negotiations, Coker said that he was interested in establishing a relationship with Lesnar and that Bellator would be bidding for his services, should Lesnar decide to return to mixed martial arts.

Coker said that Viacom (the parent company of Bellator) had significant resources at their disposal and would make a serious offer to Lesnar when the time was right.

The mixed martial arts world is in desperate need of some superstars right now and Lesnar is one of the biggest in the world. There is no doubt that the UFC and Bellator would both make significant offers to secure the services of Lesnar. You would have to think that the UFC would have the inside track, though, especially given Lesnar's desire to fight the absolute best in the world.

The big "X factor", however, is money. If Bellator makes a big enough offer to Lesnar, there is always a chance that he would choose to sign with them instead of the UFC.

The next few months should be interesting on the Brock Lesnar front.
