Puzzle Pieces Fall Into Place Following UFC 214

Two massive fights and one big one - Michael Bisping vs Georges St. Pierre, Brock Lesnar vs Jon Jones and Tyron Woodley vs Robbie Lawler - are likely to happen based on the outcome of UFC 214 last night.

Heading into the event, the plans were much different. Michael Bisping was expected to fight Robert Whittaker, Georges St. Pierre was expected to fight the winner of Woodley vs Maia and Jon Jones was expected to take on Alexander Gustafsson.

Things have changed dramatically over the past 24 hours.

The first big puzzle piece that fell into place? Woodley's unexciting performance against Demian Maia. UFC President Dana White likes exciting fights, and in the fifth round of Woodley/Maia, decided to give the Michael Bisping fight to Georges St. Pierre. So, instead of GSP taking on Woodley, he will now be moving up to take on Michael Bisping. That fight will likely take place at the UFC's November show in New York.

In order to get Woodley into an exciting fight, the UFC is likely to book Robbie Lawler vs Tyron Woodley later in the year. Lawler is the former champion and defeated Donald Cerrone last night. This fight makes a great deal of sense, especially given the fact that the UFC is in no mood to reward Woodley with another big PPV payday.

Lastly, Jon Jones called out Brock Lesnar after his win over Daniel Cormier. Both men seem to want the fight, and a Lesnar vs Jones bout would obviously sell very well. It's tough to imagine the UFC turning down such a big potential payday, as Lesnar and Jones are two of the biggest PPV draws in the industry. Alexander Gustafsson is likely going to have to wait up to a year for his shot at the title.

The UFC is setting up for a very big run over the next 12 months or so.

They will likely enjoy at least one or two PPV cards featuring Conor McGregor, assuming that he decides to return after the Floyd Mayweather fight. In addition, you have GSP vs Bisping, possibly Jones vs Lesnar as well as fights involving names such as Daniel Cormier, Cyborg and more.

All in all, the UFC had a very big night as one of their most reliable PPV draws returned in a big way.
