Finally.

After nearly two years, UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will be making his long awaited return to the Octagon this weekend when he squares off against interim champion Fabricio Werdum in the main event of UFC 188. To make this event even more special, the card will be taking place in Mexico City, Mexico.

The last time that we saw Cain Velasquez was when he successfully defended his title against Junior dos Santos at UFC 166 in Houston, Texas. That fight took place on October 19th, 2013, meaning that it has been nearly two years since we've seen Velasquez in the Octagon.

During that time, Fabricio Werdum has beaten both Travis Browne and Mark Hunt. Werdum and Velasquez were originally supposed to meet at UFC 180, but Velasquez was forced to pull out due to an injury. Mark Hunt took the champion's spot and the winner of Hunt/Werdum was given the interim Heavyweight title. Werdum ended up winning in the second round via a flying knee and was declared the interim Heavyweight champion.

Now, after years of anticipation, Cain Velasquez will finally be returning to the Octagon. People have been holding their collective breath over the past few months, hoping that Velasquez wouldn't have to yet again pull out due to an injury. This hasn't been the case, however, and the Velasquez/Werdum fight finally looks set to go ahead.

Cain Velasquez is a big favourite to beat Fabricio Werdum in his return fight. Here are the current betting odds:

It's great to finally have the Heavyweight champion back in the fold.
