Condit Requests The Winner of MacDonald/Lawler

Carlos Condit is back.

Condit returned to the UFC following a lengthy absence this past weekend and beat former title contender Thiago Alves in impressive fashion. Condit first busted Alves' nose and then finished off the Brazilian fighter with a series of vicious elbows. Condit shook off any notion that he might suffer from "ring rust" as he easily handled Alves in front of a hostile crowd.

With that victory, Condit has officially thrust himself back into the Welterweight title picture. Prior to the fight, Condit was the #3 ranked fighter in the UFC's Welterweight division.

After the fight, Condit called out the winner of the upcoming Rory MacDonald vs Robbie Lawler fight and argued that he deserved the next shot at the title. While the UFC certainly would like to put Condit into another title fight (as his fights are never boring), there is one person that likely has a much better claim for the title shot - Johny Hendricks.

After all, Hendricks has already beaten Condit, PLUS Hendricks was originally supposed to fight Lawler for a third time before Rory MacDonald got the shot.

It would certainly be hard to deny Hendricks an immediate shot at the title.

If the winner of the MacDonald/Lawler fight needs some time off, the UFC will almost certainly go with a Hendricks vs Condit rematch. After all, their first fight was an absolute classic. Seeing Condit and Hendricks go a full five rounds would be a treat, as many felt as though their first fight ended far too soon (if you'll remember, Condit was starting to surge at the end before the fight came to an end).

The UFC has a number of good options at the top of the Welterweight division. MacDonald/Lawler vs Hendricks. MacDonald/Lawler vs Condit. Condit vs Hendricks. These are all great fights.
