Fighters aren't supposed to look ahead to a future opponent but that is exactly what Conor McGregor is doing this weekend.

McGregor, who is a massive betting favourite heading into Sunday's tilt against Dennis Siver, made a point of making "championship weight" (145 pounds instead of the acceptable non-title fight limit of 146 pounds) for his fight against Siver on Sunday.

McGregor has been promised a shot at Jose Aldo and his Featherweight title with a win on Sunday against Siver. Sunday's fight is massive for both McGregor and the UFC, as a tilt between McGregor and Jose Aldo will easily be the biggest fight in the history of the Featherweight division. According to reports, the UFC is planning on hosting McGregor/Aldo in a soccer stadium in either Brazil or Ireland. McGregor has shot to superstardom in Ireland and there is practically no doubt that a Featherweight title match involving Ireland's favourite son would draw tens of thousands of people to a soccer stadium in Ireland.

Dennis Siver, however, will be doing his absolute best to defeat McGregor on Sunday. This is a big chance for Siver, as he will be fighting in his very first main event. A victory over McGregor would be a massive feather in Siver's cap as he draws closer to the end of his career.

Conor McGregor is currently a -1100 favourite to defeat Siver on Sunday. This means that, according to the bookmakers, if McGregor and Siver fought 100 times, McGregor would win 92 of those fights. This line is on par with past fights such as Anderson Silva vs Stephan Bonnar, just to give you an idea of how much of a mismatch it is in the eyes of the bookmakers.

Can McGregor win and set up a megafight between himself and Jose Aldo later in the year?
