UFC 196 has a new main event.

On Tuesday, word quickly spread through the mixed martial arts world that UFC Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos was forced to pull out of his planned tilt against Conor McGregor due to a foot injury. Dos Anjos later confirmed the news, saying that he had broken his foot in training.

A plethora of names quickly stated that they would be interested in taking dos Anjos' place. Some of the names who expressed interest included Anthony "Showtime" Pettis, Donald Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In the end, however, the UFC elected to go with Nate Diaz, who will now be getting the chance to square off against Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 196. Diaz has complained frequently about the amount of money that he receives from the UFC, but there is no doubt that he will be in line for a significant payday after accepting the McGregor fight on short notice.

According to the UFC, the fight will be contested at 170 pounds.

Conor McGregor has opened as a big favorite to defeat Diaz, despite the fact that he will be moving up two weight classes.

Here are the current betting odds for this tilt:

Conor McGregor, -350
Nate Diaz, +265

Conor McGregor will likely have a significant power advantage in this fight, though Diaz is excellent on the ground.

The condition of Nate Diaz will likely be a factor in this fight, as he will be taking on Conor McGregor on short notice. The Diaz brothers, however, are notorious for keeping themselves in fantastic shape, so it shouldn't be a worry for Nate Diaz.

The King is excited about the upcoming fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz

The UFC had a number of options for this fight. Nate Diaz will likely sell the highest number of PPVs thanks to his brash nature and unforgiving trash talk, which is why the UFC elected to give him the fight.
