This Could Be Justino's Last Fight at 145 Pounds

The UFC has a plan for Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino.

As of right now, Justino is under contract to both the UFC and Invicta. As of right now, Justino is currently Invicta's 145 pound Women's Champion.

On July 9th, Justino will be headlining Invicta's first trip to Las Vegas (the card is set to be hosted at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino). Her opponent? Faith Van Duin.

Now, Justino has long been rumored for a fight against current UFC Women's Bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey. This is the "money" fight that Women's MMA has been clamoring for.

The problem? Justino's inability to make 135 pounds. Justino has pleaded for a Catchweight fight against Rousey at 140 pounds, but Rousey's camp has flatly denied the request. The challenger needs to come down to meet the champion, Rousey has frequently stated.

Justino, for her part, has said that it is not healthy for her to move down to 135 pounds. Rousey's response? Tough luck - let me know when you can make it.

The Justino camp has changed their tune in recent months. The UFC signed Justino to a deal in the hopes of eventually having that big "money" fight between "Cyborg" and the champion, Ronda Rousey.

The plan for Justino likely looks something like this:

-she successfully defends against Faith Van Duin on July 9th at 145 pounds
-she starts a cut and fights at either 135 or 140 pounds in her next Invicta fight
-she makes the jump to the UFC and fights Rousey at 135 pounds

This plan, of course, depends on Justino's ability to make 135 pounds. Both the UFC and Rousey are adamant that a Rousey vs Justino "superfight" will never happen if Justino can't make 135 pounds.

Step one in the master plan? Justino needs to beat Van Duin on July 9th.
