Dana White Lashes Out at "Scumbag" Bjorn Rebney in Public Comments

Last week, Bjorn Rebney, along with notable fighters such as Georges St. Pierre, Cain Velasquez, Donald Cerrone and Tim Kennedy, announced the formation of the MMAAA, which stands for the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association.

Many fighters weren't happy when it was revealed that WME-IMG, along with other partners, would be buying Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the UFC, for roughly $4 billion. There have been questions about fighter's pay for years, and the massive price tag for the UFC did nothing to quell the concerns of fighters, many of whom struggle to pay bills between fights.

There have been attempts at forming fighter's unions before, though none have had the star power attached to them like the MMAAA.
The King has the attention of the person on the other end of the telephone line. Something important is probably going on.

Unsurprisingly, UFC President Dana White lashed out at Bjorn Rebney, who is presumably the man who organized the union. Rebney was formerly the Chairman and CEO of Bellator MMA before parting ways with the company.

White said that Rebney was a "POS" and "scumbag" and that all he wanted was the fighter's money. White went on to say that there are three active MMA unions, and all three exist just to make money, rather than protect the interests of fighters.

White seemed to be particularly disappointed with the involvement of Donald Cerrone, and said that the Welterweight fighter should have at least given him a call before joining the union. Cerrone has long been one of White's favorite fighters, as Cerrone will always fight on short notice and wants to remain as active as possible.

White pointed out that he paid $100,000 out of his own pocket to help Cerrone out of a legal jam, and implied that Cerrone should have given him the heads up before joining the union.

It will be interesting to see if fighters such as Cain Velasquez, Donald Cerrone or TJ Dillashaw face any kind of retribution for their involvement with the MMAAA. More importantly, it will be interesting to see if their involvement does, in fact, lead to the formation of a fighter's union in the future.
