Dana White Claims That Fight Will Take Place in Canada

According to UFC President Dana White, Rory "Aries" MacDonald will "absolutely" be getting the next shot at the Welterweight title following his impressive victory over Tarec Saffiedine this past weekend.

MacDonald, who is currently the #2 ranked fighter in the Welterweight division behind Robbie Lawler, left no doubts this past weekend when he impressively finished off Tarec Saffiedine in the third round of their UFC Fight Night: Halifax tilt. In his post-fight interview, MacDonald said that he was ready for his title shot and would be waiting for the winner of Robbie Lawler/Johny Hendricks II, which is set to take place in December.

According to White, the winner of that fight will obligated to fight against Rory MacDonald. Not only that, but White has already declared that the fight will be taking place in Canada. The logical landing point for the fight would be Vancouver, as this is in MacDonald's birth province, though Montreal and Toronto are certainly strong possibilities as well, especially given the fact that MacDonald trains in Montreal.

MacDonald has been "in the mix" for a title shot for a number of years now. MacDonald claimed that he would never fight Georges St. Pierre for the Welterweight championship, but now that GSP is in a state of semi-retirement there is nothing standing in MacDonald's way.

MacDonald had a chance to claim a title shot a year ago but ended up losing to Robbie Lawler via split decision. MacDonald followed this up with three impressive victories over Demian Maia, Tyron Woodley and Tarec Saffiedine, earning himself a shot at the Welterweight title in the process.

MacDonald/Hendricks and MacDonald/Lawler II would both be tremendous fights and fans really can't go wrong with either tilt.
