Conor McGregor vs Jose Aldo Likely Pushed Back To July

According to UFC President Dana White, the promotion is looking to schedule a Light Heavyweight title tilt between Jon "Bones" Jones and Anthony Johnson for their Memorial Day long weekend card.

UFC 187, which will take place in Las Vegas, is set for May 23rd, 2015. There was some thought that the UFC would put their massive Featherweight title tilt between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo on this card but it seems like they will go with Jones/Johnson instead.

The bout between McGregor and Aldo will likely take place on the promotion's massive July 4th card in Las Vegas instead.

Booking Jon Jones vs Anthony Johnson as fast as possible is a shrewd move by the UFC for a couple of reasons:

1) Anthony Johnson destroyed Alexander Gustafsson last week and the promotion will likely want to ensure that his impressive win is still seared into the minds of fight fans

2) Putting Jon Jones in another fight right away will take attention off of his positive test for cocaine

In some respects, Anthony Johnson will be the toughest test of Jon Jones' career, as Johnson possesses blistering knockout power.

Having said that, Jones has still opened as a considerable favorite (-315) to win.
