Daniel Cormier: "I've Waited Long Enough"

Daniel Cormier, in his own words, has waited long enough.

Daniel Cormier's near-term plan of action goes something like this:

1) He will beat Dan Henderson at UFC 173
2) He will wait for his title shot

Alexander Gustafsson has been promised the next shot at Jon Jones' title following the Swedish fighter's impressive victory over Jimi Manuwa. Jones, coming off of an impressive unanimous decision victory over Glover Teixeira, has been told that he will be facing Gustafsson next.

Cormier was obviously hoping for the next shot at the Light Heavyweight title, but he also likes to stay busy so he accepted a fight against Dan Henderson at UFC 173. This saved the UFC a bit, as they were in desperate need of some star power for the UFC 173 card.

Having said all of that, Cormier has no plans of waiting for his title shot.

According to Cormier, once he beats Dan Henderson at UFC 173, he plans on sitting out until he receives his shot at the title. This shouldn't be too long, as Cormier is the natural #1 contender once Gustafsson gets his second crack at the title. That's assuming, of course, that Cormier can beat Dan Henderson at UFC 173.

On paper, Cormier should be able to easily beat Henderson. However, Henderson has the "H-Bomb" (ask Mauricio Rua or Michael Bisping about Henderson's right hand) and that could easily derail Cormier's title plans.

Cormier has publicly declared that he is unwilling to take any more fights while he waits for his title shot. Once he defeats Dan Henderson at UFC 173 (if he does), Cormier is prepared to sit until he gets his shot at the title.

What do you think about this? Should Cormier stay busy while Jones and Gustafsson fight, or is he right to stay on the sidelines until he gets his shot at the title?
