UFC Needs New Main Event For December 10th Card

A few weeks ago, UFC 206 in Toronto was shaping up to be a very good card.

You had the rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in the main event. You had Anthony Pettis vs Max Holloway in the co-main event, as well as fights between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy, as well as Donald Cerrone vs Matt Brown.

Earlier today, the UFC revealed that Daniel Cormier was forced to pull out of the main event due to an injury. This leaves the card without a bonafide main event, as Anthony Pettis vs Max Holloway doesn't really qualify as a suitable main event for a PPV card.

In addition, Rashad Evans was unable to receive clearance for his planned fight against Tim Kennedy, so that fight is off as well.

As of right now, the main card of UFC 206 looks like this:

Max Holloway vs Anthony Pettis
Donald Cerrone vs Matt Brown
Cub Swanson vs Doo Ho Choi

What a difference a couple of weeks makes!

With UFC 206 just a few weeks away, the UFC is going to have a tough time finding a replacement main event on short notice.

There are no obvious replacements to take on Anthony Johnson in the main event, so don't be surprised if that fight is just pushed back until Cormier returns. Alexander Gustafsson is hurt, Jon Jones is currently suspended and Ryan Bader just recently fought.

In short - the upcoming UFC 206 card is probably not going to be very good at all.
