Dominick Cruz Looking For Immediate Fight With Renan Barao

The UFC has a champion who hasn't fought in nearly two years, and that man is Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Dominick Cruz was originally supposed to defend his Bantamweight title against Urijah Faber at UFC 148, but Cruz blew out his ACL and was forced to pull himself from the fight.

Dominick's recovery took a major setback in 2012 when he was forced to undergo a second surgery on his ACL, as his body had rejected an ACL that had been taken from a cadaver.

In the meantime, Renan Barao has won and defended the interim Bantamweight championship. The UFC, up until this point, has refused to strip Cruz of the title.

Earlier this week, Cruz indicated that he would likely return in the first half of 2014, which would make it about 2 1/2 years between Dominick Cruz fights. Cruz also indicated that he does not want a tune-up fight - instead, he wants to take on interim champion Renan Barao immediately.

Dominick Cruz has been dominant during his time as a professional fighter, putting together an impressive record of 19-1-0. Dominick's only loss came to Urijah Faber - a loss that he would eventually avenge.

Cruz is still a young fighter (27 years old), so hopefully he can fully recover and fight another number of years in the UFC.
