This wasn't the fight that Rafael Dos Anjos really wanted.

A few months ago, Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos were set to battle for dos Anjos' Lightweight title in the main event of UFC 196. McGregor, fresh off of an obliteration of Jose Aldo at UFC 194, was looking to win his second title. Dos Anjos, the seemingly invincible Lightweight champion who had destroyed Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis, was relishing the challenge.

Two weeks before UFC 196 was set to take place, disaster struck - dos Anjos was forced to pull out due to a foot injury. Nate Diaz was given the slot against Conor McGregor, and the rest is history.

Dos Anjos had been hoping for another crack at Conor McGregor, though the UFC and Conor McGregor both moved on. This led dos Anjos to take the top challenger for the Lightweight title, which is Eddie Alvarez.

Eddie Alvarez is tough as nails and is the complete package inside of the Octagon. Alvarez is a notorious slow starter, while dos Anjos usually comes out blazing, which should make for an interesting fight.
