Werdum vs Velasquez Likely in Early 2014

In the main event of UFC 166: Velasquez vs dos Santos, Cain Velasquez put a beating on Junior dos Santos to retain his title.

Any talk of a fourth fight between Velasquez and dos Santos went out the window as Cain thoroughly and viciously demolished his foe. Dos Santos was lost during the fight, eventually succumbing in the fifth round as Herb Dean called off the contest.

Now that the Velasquez/dos Santos rivalry is seemingly over, this leads to the question - who might be next for champion Cain Velasquez?

According to UFC President Dana White, Fabricio Werdum is likely next for the champion. In reality, Werdum is the only fighter who makes any sort of sense for the champion's next fight. With Daniel Cormier dropping down to Light Heavyweight, there are no legitimate contenders for the title aside from Fabricio Werdum.

Werdum will enter his fight against Velasquez as the HEAVY underdog, but he does pose one interesting challenge to Velasquez and his team - his incredible grappling.

Does Werdum have a chance against Velasquez, or will Cain maul Fabricio as he did to Junior dos Santos?
