Fedor Pummelled In First Round Before Winning Controversial Decision

Fedor Emelianenko defeated Fabio Maldonaldo in the main event of EFN 50: Emelianenko vs Maldonado yesterday, though the result left plenty to be desired. In fact, many people are screaming about how the Russian referees and judges were as biased as they possibly could have been.

Maldonado bruised, battered and wobbled Fedor in the first round. Fedor could barely stand as he tried to defend himself, and Maldonado literally exhausted himself trying to finish out Fedor. The Russian referee, however, refused to stop the fight.
After surviving the first round, Fedor took advantage of a gassed Maldonado to win a decision victory. The decision was controversial as well, as many people felt as though Maldonado easily did enough in the first round to win, with some scoring the first 10-7.

There had been some talk of finally bringing Fedor into the UFC. Fedor himself had alluded to the ongoing contract talks, stating that he was closer than ever to signing with the UFC.

Things have changed, however, as Fedor clearly lost his fight to Fabio Maldonado, who is a fighter that the UFC parted ways with recently.

Sure, the UFC might still be interested in bringing Fedor into their promotion, but it will certainly be on their terms and not on Fedor's. The days of Fedor and his management team being able to command millions of dollars for a fight are clearly over, thanks to a series of lackluster performances against subpar competition.

It is hard to imagine Fedor beating any of the top Heavyweights in the UFC, so don't be surprised if Fedor never makes it to the Octagon.
