Fresh off of his destruction of Vitor Belfort this past weekend, Kelvin Gastelum will look to crush another legend when he takes on Anderson Silva in Brazil in June.

According to multiple media reports that have since been confirmed by ESPN, the UFC has signed a Middleweight fight between Anderson Silva and Kelvin Gastelum. The fight will take place at UFC 212, which will be held in Rio on June 3rd.

The MMA matchup between Kelvin Gastelum and Anderson Silva is to take place this summer. Illustration. This event will be headlined by Jose Aldo v Max Holloway for the unified Featherweight title, and it seems likely that Silva vs Gastelum will be named as the co-main event.

To say that Gastelum is a dangerous opponent for Anderson Silva is an extreme understatement, as Gastelum has torn through the likes of Tim Kennedy, Vitor Belfort and Johny Hendricks in recent fights. Gastelum has seemingly solved his weight issues by moving up to Middleweight, and the result seems to be a fighter who is on the fast track towards a title shot. Gastelum is quick, powerful and very hard to deal with.

Anderson Silva, on the other hand, is coming off an uneven performance against Derek Brunson at UFC 208 that saw him walk away with the decision victory. This was Silva's first win since October of 2012 and he is hoping to build on this momentum. Despite Silva being 41 years of age, he would throw himself right into the title picture with a shock victory over Gastelum in June. Silva is still a very skilled striker and if anyone can pull off the shock victory against Gastelum, it is Anderson Silva.

According to the oddsmakers, Kelvin Gastelum is a -390 favourite to win, while Anderson Silva is a +290 underdog.

There is a possibility that if Anderson Silva wins, he will be fighting either Georges St. Pierre or Michael Bisping for the Middleweight title next. With the UFC's new owners, you can certainly not discount that possibility.
