St. Pierre Discusses Potential Fight at Promotional Event

The stars seem to be lining up perfectly for the long-anticipated fight between Georges St. Pierre and Anderson Silva to take place.

After years of talk, Silva and St. Pierre are both seemingly looking for a fight. Anderson Silva wants the St. Pierre fight, the UFC likely wants the Silva/St. Pierre, though St. Pierre doesn't seem to be interested.

In a recent promotional event, St. Pierre was asked about the possibility of fighting Silva. St. Pierre said that Silva's stock wasn't really that high right now, so St. Pierre was looking elsewhere for his comeback fight.

This has enraged quite a few MMA fans, especially those who were looking forward to seeing St. Pierre fight in the Octagon this summer. The original plan was for St. Pierre to take on Michael Bisping for the Middleweight title, though St. Pierre said that he wouldn't be ready to fight until November at the earliest. This led the UFC to cancel the Bisping/St. Pierre fight, which means that Bisping will be fighting against Yoel Romero next, unless something changes in the interim.

With Anderson Silva having been pulled from UFC 212 due to Kelvin Gastelum's injury, this leaves both St. Pierre and Silva looking for a fight. Why not put the two legends in the Octagon together so that everybody can make a pile of money? St. Pierre isn't down for that idea, so the fight probably won't happen.

If Bisping somehow manages to get past Yoel Romero, the UFC may still put together the Bisping/St. Pierre fight in the fall.

If Bisping loses to Romero, I could easily see St. Pierre moving back to Welterweight to take on the winner of Tyron Woodley/Demian Maia.

If neither of those two things are a possibility, I have a hard time seeing St. Pierre stepping into the Octagon against anybody not named Conor McGregor, as St. Pierre seems intent on getting a very big name to fight against.
