Teixeira To Face Winner of Jones/Gustafsson

Glover Teixeira earned himself a shot at the Light Heavyweight title earlier tonight after knocking out Ryan Bader in the first round of their UFC Fight Night main event tilt.

Teixeira knocked out Ryan Bader 2:55 into the first round of their UFC Fight Night: Teixeira vs Bader scrap. The knockout earned Teixeira the "Knockout of the Night" award.

The victory wasn't overly inspiring, however, as Bader was able to land some heavy blows on Teixeira over the course of the fight. As a matter of fact, Teixeira was defending himself from a blistering Bader attack when he managed to score the knockout. Teixeira himself wasn't impressed with the way he fought, but that won't stop him from facing the winner of Jones/Gustafsson.

According to the UFC, Teixeira earned himself a shot at the winner of the UFC 165 main event. Barring a Gustafsson/Jones rematch, Teixeira will be the next contender for the Light Heavyweight title.

Since making his debut in the UFC back in May of 2012, Teixeira has reeled off five straight wins, including submission victories over Kyle Kingsbury and James Te Hunt, and knockout wins over Fabio Maldonado and Ryan Bader.

Does Teixeira stand a chance against Jon Jones, assuming that the champion is able to successfully defend his title later in the month? We'll soon find out.
