Luke Rockhold Calls Out Gegard Mousasi For Fight

The pieces of the Middleweight division's title picture may quickly be falling into place following the UFC's division to cancel the planned fight between Georges St. Pierre and Michael Bisping.

Many people saw GSP vs Bisping as an unnecessary "money fight" that would hold up an entire division. For this reason, many rejoiced when the UFC lost patience with GSP and announced that they would be calling off the planned fight between the former Welterweight champion and Michael Bisping.

Instead, UFC President Dana White said, Bisping would be next defending his title against Yoel Romero at a yet-to-be-determined date. This is surely bad news for Bisping, who was banking on a money fight against St. Pierre. Instead, Bisping looks to be getting the very tough Romero as his next opponent - an opponent who is currently a big favourite to beat the champion.

The MMA King is reporting the latest news from the sport. Press conference.

This is the fight that many had been calling for anyways, including former Middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. In recent days, Rockhold seemed to be threatening retirement if the UFC maintained the trend of money fights. Now that Bisping/Romero seems to be on the cusp of taking place, Rockhold is calling for a fight against Gegard Mousasi in July. Rockhold's idea, presumably, is that the winner of this fight would move on to face the winner of Bisping vs Romero.

In addition, Kelvin Gastelum may be taking on Chris Weidman later in the year, which could potentially put Gastelum one fight away from a title shot with an impressive win over Weidman.

With the surprise cancellation of St. Pierre vs Bisping, the entire Middleweight title picture suddenly makes sense and is coming into focus.

For that reason, don't be surprised if the UFC ends up going ahead with St. Pierre vs Bisping after all, just to muddy the waters even more.

Yoel Romero is currently a 1.30 favourite to defeat Michael Bisping, while Bisping is a 3.00 underdog to successfully defend his title.
