Can UFC 189 Break UFC 100's PPV Record?

The biggest card of the year, UFC 189: Aldo vs McGregor, is now less than three weeks away.

UFC 189 is going to be a historic card for a couple of reasons.

To start, the card features the biggest Featherweight fight in the history of the business, as Conor McGregor will be taking on Jose Aldo in the main event. It wasn't long ago that the Featherweight division didn't even exist in the UFC - now, a Featherweight fight is likely to be the biggest bout of the year in mixed martial arts.

The hype behind the McGregor/Aldo fight has been breath-taking - multiple promos and a worldwide tour have left people salivating for this fight. There is a chance that the card ends up beating UFC 100's PPV buy record (1.6 million buys) - UFC President Dana White, however, has been downplaying the possibility, saying that it is likely that the event will do more than 1 million buys. UFC 100's record, according to White, will likely remain safe. Given the amount of interest for this fight worldwide, however, there is always a chance that the record gets broken.

In addition, UFC 189 marks the first event that will take place under the new Reebok deal. This means that all of the UFC's fighters will have to wear Reebok gear for their fights, as well as at weigh-ins and promotional events for the card. There will be no other sponsors on the clothes of fighters at the event - each fighter will receive a check after the card has completed, the amount of which is based on a number of different factors, including length of service with the UFC.

Here is the main card for UFC 189:

Jose Aldo vs Conor McGregor
Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald
Dennis Bermudez vs Jeremy Stephens
John Hathaway vs Gunnar Nelson
Thomas Almeida vs Brad Pickett

The preliminary card has some great fights as well, including Matt Brown vs Tim Means.

This should be an absolutely fantastic card!
