During a whirlwind promotional tour in New York earlier today, the UFC confirmed that UFC 200 in July will now be headlined by a Light Heavyweight title unification match between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.

Following the dissolving of the Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz rematch, the UFC had a couple of options for a new UFC 200 main event. There were rumors of Lawler vs Condit 2 or Lawler vs GSP, but at the end of the day, Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier 2 ended up getting the spot.

Following his victory over OSP last Saturday night, the UFC had to wait to make sure that Jon Jones had a clean bill of health from his doctors. In addition, Cormier needed to be cleared by his doctors as well and was given the go-ahead to start training earlier this week.

There was some talk that the UFC would back down and invite Conor McGregor back onto the card, though UFC President Dana White constantly downplayed that possibility. The UFC has stuck to their guns, and Conor McGregor will not be taking part at UFC 200.

The main card for UFC 200 now looks like this:

Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones
Jose Aldo vs Frankie Edgar
Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes
Cain Velasquez vs Travis Browne
Johny Hendricks vs Kelvin Gastelum

That is a total of three title fights (Aldo vs Edgar will be for the interim Featherweight title) in addition to a fight that could potentially determine the next contender for the Heavyweight title (Cain vs Browne).

From top to bottom this is a stacked card, though it won't feature either of the two biggest stars that the UFC has on their roster - Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey.
