Two of the pioneers of the sports of mixed martial arts, Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie, will be squaring off in the main event of Bellator 149 on Friday night.

The best days of both Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie have long passed the two men by, as their combined age tops 100 years. They have still possess some name value, however, which led Scott Coker to decide to sign the two to fight in one of Bellator's "tentpole" events.

Ken Shamrock is coming off of a loss against Kimbo Slice last year, while Royce Gracie last fought in June of 2007 against Kazushi Sakuraba. Royce Gracie has fought two times professionally over the past decade.

Royce Gracie's obvious path to victory in this fight will be catching Shamrock in a submission, while Shamrock will be looking to take Gracie down via his striking and score a knockout. Royce Gracie has never won a fight via knockout, so look for him to take the fight to the ground as soon as possible on Friday night.

Royce Gracie has had some troubles with the IRS in recent years, which has led many people to believe that he doesn't really want to fight but has to due to monetary reasons.

Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock have fought twice before - Gracie scored a quick submission victory at UFC 1, and the two men fought to a draw at UFC 5.

Ken Shamrock is a slight favorite to win on Friday night, though the oddsmakers basically have it as a coin flip:

Ken Shamrock, -125
Royce Gracie, -105
