Liam McGeary Significant Favourite To Defeat Tito Ortiz Next Weekend

Published on September 12th, 2015 9:44 pm EST

Next weekend's "Dynamite 1" card from Bellator will feature a Light Heavyweight title fight between former decorated UFC champion Tito Ortiz and Liam McGeary. Ortiz enters this fight with a professional record of 18-11-1, while the 6'6 McGeary has an undefeated record of 10-0-0.

Tito Ortiz has been able to prolong his fighting career by moving to Bellator and beating the likes of Stephan Bonnar and Alexander Shlemenko. The two straight wins earned Ortiz a title shot against Liam McGeary, who has beaten the likes of Emanuel Newton, Kelly Anundson and Egidijus Valavicius during his time with Bellator. While McGeary hasn't really beaten any "big" names, he is still the clear favourite to beat Ortiz next weekend.

Here are the current odds for the Ortiz/McGeary fight:

Liam McGeary, -450
Tito Ortiz, +325

Tito Ortiz has been very vocal on his Twitter account over the past few months, promising his fans that he will win another title in 2015.

Ortiz, however, is 40 years old with plenty of wear and tear on his body. You can never count out a former UFC world champion, but the deck is certainly stacked against the "Huntington Beach Bad Boy".

This fight, just like the entire Dynamite 1 card, will be very interesting to behold. Can Ortiz pull off yet another upset to keep his career rolling along, or will Liam McGeary put an end to Ortiz's improbable rise back to the top?
