Chris Weidman Asks For Title Shot Following Win Over Kelvin Gastelum

The line to fight Middleweight champion Michael "The Count" Bisping continues to grow.

Bisping is one of the most sought after fights in the UFC right now. After all, Bisping is a drawing champion that is seen as a beatable fighter - who wouldn't want to fight him? Bisping is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC (especially in Australia and the United Kingdom) and any PPV that he fights on is going to draw well.

There is a line of fighters who want to take on Bisping next, and that line continued to grow on Saturday night following Chris Weidman's destruction of Kelvin Gastelum. The former Middleweight champion called out Bisping and said that he wanted a title shot.

Here is the list of the fighters who currently want the next fight against Bisping:

Georges St. Pierre
Robert Whittaker
Yoel Romero
Chris Weidman

The UFC was going to do the GSP/Bisping fight, though GSP said that he needed until November to get ready, which resulted in the UFC (seemingly) moving on from the fight. There is always the chance that St. Pierre vs Bisping still ends up happening, however.

Robert Whittaker earned himself a shot at the title after defeating Yoel Romero, and a Bisping/Whittaker fight would do massive numbers in Australia. This is definitely the fight that the UFC should make.

Yoel Romero, despite losing to Robert Whittaker, still seems to be campaigning for a title shot against Bisping, while Weidman added his name to the list this past weekend of potential contenders to Bisping's title. Of course, Luke Rockhold would also throw himself back in the mix if he defeats David Branch in September.

If the UFC wants to maintain any semblance of credibility, they need to make the Bisping/Whittaker fight next.

WME-IMG, however, seems to be concerned only with $, so don't be surprised if St. Pierre vs Bisping ends up happening in November.
