Phil Davis Eyeing Fight Against Teixeira

According to Phil Davis, Jon "Bones" Jones will find a reason not to enter the Octagon against Glover Teixeira at UFC 172.

Davis, who claims that he is 100% healthy, has offered to fight Teixeira on short notice, if and when Jones pulls out.

According to Davis, Jones is afraid of stepping back into the Octagon following a hellacious decision victory over Alexander Gustafsson in 2013. Davis feels that Jones' narrow victory shook the champion to the core, and that he will now be very hesitant to step back into the Octagon.

So, Davis opines that Jones will find some reason to pull out of his UFC 172 fight against Teixeira. If that happens, Davis will be ready to go.

Davis is having a hard time finding a fight right now, and has taken to being a bit more vocal in the hopes of finding a willing opponent.

Davis is currently in the midst of a three fight winning streak that includes wins over Lyoto Machida, Vinny Magalhaes and Wagner Prado.

One of the main reasons why Davis is having trouble finding an opponent? He fights a grinding, wrestling-based style that usually makes for boring fights. Davis doesn't want to fight anybody below him in the rankings, as he is intent on moving up the Light Heavyweight ladder. However, guys ahead of him aren't too keen on fighting Davis, as the risk/reward is really not there.

Will Jones pull out of his UFC 172 tilt against Teixeira as Davis has stated?
