Rashad Evans Removed Due to Issue With Pre-Fight Medical

The UFC 205 card, which features a total of three title fights, has been remarkably free of injury up until this point. It's not a surprise - unless a catastrophic injury is suffered, there is no way that any of the participating fighters would want to be removed from the historic card.

Earlier today, however, the card suffered its first casuality after former Light Heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was removed due to an issue with his pre-fight medicals. According to reports, Evans is fine and the move was precautionary.

This is obviously terrible news for both Evans and his opponent, Tim Kennedy. Both men are nearing the ends of their careers, and there is no doubt that being removed from the Madison Square Garden card is going to be a terrible blow to both men.

According to Kennedy's camp, the fighter has still not be officially informed of the fight cancellation. It remains to be seen if the UFC will be able to find a short-term replacement for Kennedy, as there are only a few days remaining until the card takes place. Having said that, you would have to think that there will be a number of fighters interested in filling in for Evans, giving the massive number of eyes that will be on the card.

Rashad Evans has been struggling to find his way in the UFC in the past couple of years, and there is no doubt that a cancellation of his fight against Tim Kennedy may bring the man one step closer to retirement.

Tim Kennedy, on the other hand, only fights sporadically for the promotion, and you would have to think that he is absolutely devastated by this turn of events as well.

There will be more posted on this story as it develops..
